Using a buyer led and demand driven approach, the BDU will assist firms to identify and remove constraints inhibiting sales growth through focused and cost-effective support. The BDU will let demand drive what it does, by supporting only those business opportunities for which there is market demand – and therefore abides by the maxim, produce what you can sell, not sell what you produce.
This new approach is different as the assistance to each firm is specific and tailored made. In fact, an increase in sales of at least $5 for each $1 invested is what is used to measure the success of the intervention at each firm.
The BDU is managed by the Executive Director of the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture, Brian Louisy under the technical supervision of USAID COTS and comprises two Business Advisors, Ms. Karen Fowell and Mr. Allan Perry Thomas and an Administrative Officer, Ms. Anthia St. Aimee.
