Our Guest Speaker for July’s Executive Luncheon will be Ambassador Luis Manuel Lopez Moreno, Mexico’s Ambassador to St. Lucia. Ambassador Moreno is keen to improve the relationship between St. Lucia and Mexico. Earlier this year the Mexican Government made a substantial financial contribution to the completion of the St. Jude’s Hospital, in addition to that the Government of Mexico is now offering a number terms of scholarships to St. Lucian students to study in Mexico.
Mexico is the eleventh largest economy in the world and a major global manufacturing powerhouse. The Mexican economy is a sophisticated economy, producing thousands of world class products from food and beverage to finished consumer items. Mexican produced food, industrial and consumer items can be found around the world. Mexico as a member of the North American Free Trade Zone is home to world class manufacturers, yet is not typically seen as a supplier of goods or as a potential source market for services like tourism, but with a GDP per capita of over US$14, 000 Mexico should not be ignored.
Ambassador Moreno in his presentation will seek to give St. Lucian businessmen and policy makers a better perspective and appreciation of the huge potential partner in trade and development Mexico is. Mexico has also taken keen interest in working more closely and engaging the Caribbean and as such in September 2015 a Caribbean Mexico Business Forum will be held which will seek to bring these two regions closer together to explore the natural connectivity which is provided by the Caribbean Sea, to explore how trade, investment and business between our regions can be developed.
Persons looking for better and more reasonable supplies of goods and services as well as looking for new markets and investment partners are encouraged to attend this luncheon.
The Luncheon will be held on Wednesday July 29th, 2015 from 12:30 p.m. at Golden Palm Events Center in Rodney Bay and promises to be informative and thought provoking.
