Debt Management
Chamber Objectives
A plan for the management of national debt which examines all options for averting crisis.

Debt has escalated to above 85% of GDP primarily due to COVID-19 Crisis borrowing.

Debt associated with the HIA has also been an issue, which the Government spoke to pointing out that debt servicing was taken account of with a specific user fee in the form of an Airport Development Tax, which is already accumulating funds.

Government indicated that due to dramatic loss in revenue and drop in economic activity, debt will have to increase.

Additionally some major projects had been programmed and were continued as part of GOSL counter cyclical measure to stimulate economic activity and employment during pandemic.
