Event Description

The St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture invites to participate in an Employer’s Network on Digital Skills.  The Network seeks to, among other things, provide critical perspectives on the “Digital Skills and Competency Levels” that are required for the current labor market. Additionally, the Network will also seek to contribute to the establishment of Internship and Volunteering programs that provide opportunities for applied learning so that students can demonstrate and apply their digital skills.

As part of a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) sponsored project, the Chamber is collaborating with the ConnectEd Project through a two-year initiative. St. Lucia ConnectEd, seeks to assist in building Digital Literacy Skills of Students. This project is in keeping with the Chamber’s profound interest in Education Reform and Skills Development for employment and growth and as such the Chamber is supporting and collaborating on this project.

The Saint Lucia ConnectEd activities will help build the resilience and capacity of the education system to overcome challenges to online learning posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and prepare youth to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the new digital economy. Consequently, it is expected that the education system will be better able to provide the private sector with a new cadre of better skilled and equipped employees.

To that end the Chamber invites you to participate in an initial study through a survey. Please click on this link to access.

Subsequently your organization will be invited to support and participate in placements and internships for students.

Ms. June Daniel, from the Chamber Secretariat, who is coordinating this initiative will contact your firm to discuss your support and participation in this most crucial project.
