The St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce is committed to providing upskilling opportunities in key areas to its member. The Chamber held a one-day virtual seminar on Know Your Labour Act on Wednesday June 28th, 2023. The seminar, facilitated by Labour Law expert, Cheryl Goddard-Dorville, was designed to increase participants' understanding of Section 10 of the St. Lucia Labour Act. The seminar touched on key areas like valid and legal reasons for employee termination, sick leave.

As some of the most frequently challenged areas, the chamber saw it fitting to, ensuring that our members were familiar and well-versed in the laws and procedures set out in the St, Lucia Labour Act Cap16.04 of the Revised Laws of Saint Lucia.  The responsibilities and privileges of employees and employers are outlined by labour law. These laws are intended to promote employee safety, health, contentment, and satisfaction, which, when present, tend to result in a more productive workplace. We see the act as a guide in the relationship between employees and employers.

The rights and obligations of both employees and their employers are spelled forth in the law. These regulations are in place to ensure the wellbeing of workers, who are more likely to be productive when they

 feel secure in their jobs.

In this light, the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture is happy to present a whole day seminar on Division 10 of the St. Lucia Labour Act.

Our members is urged to capitalize on this opportunity to understand and become more informed about Employer obligations as well as those crucial guidelines enshrined within the Labour Act.
